Month: June 2015
Like pashmina shawls? There are two shawls in the auction this Saturday. Come and get one!
June 20th is the date, starting at 7 pm… we will be having a magnificent line up of performers and a great silent Auction. We have just added a new offering which is Manoj Kanskar’s prints to order. Here is a pic and bio of the artist.
Born into a Newa family in Kathmandu, Nepal, Manoj Kanskar made his way to this country in 1981. His brain is wired for physics during the day and in his spare time he plucks the guitar in a band called “Mandah”. He also dabbles in painting when he can.
These prints are given to Nepalese ReBuild to fund aid to Manoj’s beloved Nepal.
It’s lovely when people come together to support something important. I know this sounds cliche to some cynical types but when I think of the event we are going to have next week to raise money for Nepal I feel inspired. So many people have contributed already by way of auction and raffle items and preparing performances. I know the Nepali band “Mandah” has been practicing their fusion magic of Nepali folk with some flavors of rock, reggae and blues. What a combination!
